Bradenton-Sarasota, FL – Robert G. Blalock of the law firm of Blalock Walters, P.A., among other extraordinary lawyers, judges and activists, was recognized as one of Manatee-Sarasota’s “Legal Legends” at a multi-media event the Hyatt Regency on September 27 by Legal Aid of Manasota. The celebration was inspired by the book Lawyers & Legends of Manatee County by Gilbert A. Smith Jr.
Other recognitions Blalock has previously received include the Lifetime Spirit Award by Manatee Community Foundation and the inaugural Community Service Award by the Manatee County Bar Association. Additionally, the Johnson-Blalock Education Center at The Ringling was named in his honor in recognition of his efforts on behalf of the museum.
In his career Blalock has led the Manatee County Bar Association as President and is former Chair of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Manatee Community Foundation, Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, Manatee Players, Sarasota Orchestra, The Ringling Museum and United Way of Manatee County. He is a Trustee and former Vice Chair of New College of Florida. His law practice is focused in Banking, Business, Estate Planning and Real Estate Law.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the community to help Legal Aid of Manasota provide quality free legal services to its most vulnerable neighbors. Partial proceeds will also support its Diversity Initiative which provides education and employment opportunities for minority students in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
