As the year comes to a close, we reflect on how fortunate we are as thriving businesses, as an expanding community, and as a nation. We have seen positive boosts in our economy this past year which is evident by our own region’s growth and prosperity.
For example, Port Manatee stands on the verge of fantastic economic opportunities as result of the widening of the Panama Canal. It is anticipated this will create a tremendous increase in business at the Port due to its blessed proximity to the Canal and by being the Florida port with the most ample land area to expand for the future. A port facility such as this creates many high paying, value added jobs. Also, Sarasota being awarded the World Rowing Championships in 2017 will further our region’s attraction as a sports tourism destination and attract visitors from around the world infusing our economy. Other examples are the development of University Town Center Mall and the many new hotels in the area.
Blalock Walters is proud to support the region’s growth initiatives with many of our attorneys serving in community leadership roles such as Chairs-elect of the Bradenton Area Economic Development Council and the Manatee Chamber of Commerce; as Chairman’s Circle and Platinum members of the Manatee Chamber; as Trustee members of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce; as Sarasota Tomorrow Next Investors; as well as serving on numerous nonprofit Boards.
