Jason McCosby is an attorney in our Estate Planning and Tax Law practice groups. Jason received his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center; a Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law; and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of South Florida. Prior to his law practice, Jason served as an Infantryman in the United States Army and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jason represents both companies and individuals in the areas of individual and business tax planning, entity selection and formation, corporate governance matters, mergers and acquisitions, business succession planning and transitions, charitable planning, tax controversy matters at the federal and Florida levels, and all aspects of estate planning, including trust and estate taxation and wealth preservation.

Estate Planning Practice
Jason represents clients in all areas of estate and elder law planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and other ancillary documents such as powers of attorney, health care surrogates and living wills.  His tax background and estate planning experience also assists him in offering highly sophisticated estate planning and charitable planning, including charitable trusts, when it is consistent with a client’s goals and objectives.  In addition, Jason assists clients in evaluating and qualifying for Medicaid to assist with their elder care needs.  His estate planning practice also includes assisting families following the death of a loved one with both Trust administration services and probate.

Tax Law Practice
Jason’s tax law practice includes representing and advising companies and business owners in connection with the formation, operation, acquisition, merger, joint ventures, reorganization and sale of their business entities.  In addition, he represents businesses and individuals with both the IRS and Florida Department of Revenue in connection with tax controversy matters.  In the area of estate planning, Jason represents clients in all aspects of estate and gift tax planning, together with charitable tax planning.  Jason’s practice focuses on providing proactive, timely and understandable tax advice to his clients in connection with their business and personal goals.

Probate Law Practice
Jason also focuses his practice in estate planning and trust and probate administration, including ancillary probate administration. Jason is proficient in drafting wills, revocable living trusts and irrevocable trusts, and advanced directives to help clients achieve their estate planning goals. He is also experienced in drafting estate planning documents, such as health care surrogate, HIPAA, and durable power of attorney. His areas of concentration allow him to counsel clients on matters of estate planning and succession planning for their benefit and for the benefit of their loved ones and assists in the execution of the documentation necessary to achieve the clients’ intended results.
